Shutting Down and Moving On
This will be the final posting for Medialogue and I am sorry to bring things to a close after only six months as your local media blogger.
However, things are hopping over at KVEC and I'm taking on some new responsibilities, effective January 2. Clear Channel is putting my afternoon talk show on the Internet -- check out http://www.920kvec.com -- and podcasting will start up shortly thereafter.
But the boss is also asking me to maintain a daily blog around my show and oversee a new opinion page where listeners will post their opinions on the issues of the day. It is all rather exciting and gratifying, but I don't see the need to maintain two blogs. So I'm just going to consolidate everything over to the new KVEC blog. I will continue to post items of interest to the local media community and well as my daily rants on the issues of the day.
I want to publicly thank Head Blogger Greg McClure for his vision and continued support of all of us bloggers. Central Coast News Mission fills a major void in covering the issues of the day and I hope people will continue to post and read and debate the issues of the day, Central Coast style.
Happy New Year! Good night -- and good luck!

Whoa, just reading the heading of this blog entry got me "all shook up." Seeing, however, that you ain't gonna leave us but will actually increase your presence was reassuring.
Thanks for the internet broadcast on KVEC; there is quite a signal drop in the late afternoon for your North Santa Barbara Co listeners

We will all miss you. Your insights about media have been wonderful, and at times your writing, Pulitzer. How about a parting shot on the Knight Ridder sellout and the effects on the Times Tribune?
Is common logic taboo? There are so many issues where common logic is non-existent. There are so many issues where it is more important to politically play a power game regardless of whom it may hurt during the process.
Take the medical insurance as an example. Basically, we should not have the problems we are having today. We are a Nation of useless laws, California being the epitome Granola State (Land of Fruits, Flakes, and Nuts). Federal and State lawmakers should repeal one or two laws for every new law.
People want to resolve the major Medical Insurance problem? To paraphrase William Shakespeare, get rid of all lawyers and their free-for-all Court jamming. Americans are a giving people, even to our enemies suffering disasters. If a person is in dire need, Americans unhesitatingly pull out their wallets. They are righteously upset when duped. I have never seen the American populace turn its back on a charity case.
Medical costs are not that great. Medical Research is not that great when considering all the grants and charity drives. Malpractise Insurance and Lawyers' fees make medical coverage exorbitant.
I am surprised Representative Lois Capps has not promoted this concept when she told me it was a viable concept to consider--unless she 'lied' to me or she just tried to humour me.
